Joseph Pavek was born in the Bohemian town of Pon?drážka. He emigrated with his parents on July 31, 1863 through New York City. The family settled as farmers in the Bohemian enclave of New Prague, Minnesota. In 1876 Joseph married Veronika Peterka in that town. In 1890 Pavek started a brewery in an unincorporated part of Rice county called Veseli. He ran the brewery for seventeen years. Joseph Pavek died on the 6th of May, 1944 at 87 years of age.
