Philip J. Lauber was born in Germany. He conducted the great restaurant on the grounds of the centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia. Apparently he was the first person in America to brew Bohemia beer in his short-lived brewery on Broad Street. He died on April 9th, 1887 at the age of 51 years.
