Monday, April 14, 1834 George Adam Schmitt
George Adam Schmitt was born in Zell-in-der-Platz, Bavaria, Germany. He emigrated to America in the 1860s. In 1865 he partnered with Henry Elias in the Central Park Brewery in New York City. When Elias retired from the business in 1868 Schmitt became the controlling partner. He managed the brewery until his death on May 4, 1897. The Central Park Brewery closed in 1906.
