The no-deposit, no-return “Handy” bottle debuted in late 1959 as a lightweight, space-saving alternative to cans. Early versions were smooth and slippery when wet, leading to frequent spills, so textured rings were added around 1961. The design was updated again around 1964 to accept a screw cap, and around 1970 a flat neck was added to improve pouring. This example is a second-generation Handy bottle with the correct period label applied.
