Ferdinand Neumer was born in Frankfurt, Germany. He emigrated to America in September 1866 and settled in New York City. He worked as a clerk for a decade before establishing a beer bottling business in about 1878. By 1884 he had secured contracts from the Geo. Ehret Brewery, the Schlitz Brewery, and the Bartholomay Brewery. His business would grow through the 1880s to become the largest independent beer bottler in new York City. In addition to the above mentioned clients he added the Pabst, Moerlein and Anheuser-Busch Breweries as well. Ferdinand Neumer died on the 8th of December, 1911, but his son carried on the business until Prohibition brought the industry to a close.
