William Ebling was born in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany. In 1868 William and his younger brother Philip founded the Ebling Brewery in New York City. The organization would survive both of them by more than 50 years and come out of Prohibition stronger than ever. The brewery finally closed in 1950. William Ebling died on January 25, 1922.
