The move from the Goebel eagle was a decided change in direction for Goebel. Brewster the Rooster is friendy - almost comical in its appeal. Detroit was a hotbed of brewing activity in the 1950s. 5 major brewers supplied beer to a population of 1.9 million. Goebel was making the right decisions. By the mid-1960s two of its competitors will have gone out of business and a third, Pfeiffer will have been absorbed into a greater brewing conglomerate out of Indiana.  |
