How does Tavern Trove use my information?
Tavern Trove strongly believes in protecting your personal information, so we will never sell or distribute this information to 3rd parties. Internally, your information is only used to maintain your account history and preferences. We ask that you provide a phone number so that we can quickly contact you regarding your account. We never use this information for telemarketing. Above all, we believe in providing a safe and secure environment for collectors.
Is the personal information I provide Tavern Trove stored securely?
Yes. To protect your information, Tavern Trove uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocal with 128-bit encryption to transmit your information across the internet. The protocal was developed by Netscape in 1995 and has become the industry standard for e-commerce security. Nearly all web browsers available today support the protocal and depending on your security settings, you may be informed that you are leaving or entering a secure part of the site as you browse. You can also tell whether the information on a particular page has been transfered using the SSL protocal by looking in the address bar of your browser. If you are viewing a secure page, the address will start with https:// instead of http://.
I was having some trouble checking out and you called me before I called you. How did you know?
In order to ensure that our collectors have a positive experience using Tavern Trove we constantly monitor the activity on the website. If we see that someone is having a problem we try to provide assistance. Although Tavern Trove is a web-based company, customer satisfaction, and prompt service are just as important to us as any brick-and-morter shop, and probably more so. We know that you have a choice in where to collect, and we value your business.
Is it safe to use the remember my login feature?
Tavern Trove's persistent login feature allows you to have your computer automatically log you in whenever you visit Tavern Trove. This doesn't mean that it stores your password though. Instead, Tavern Trove stores several numbers in the cookie. One of them corrosponds to your internal Tavern Trove account number, the other is a randomly generated 128-bit unique identifier that acts as a constantly changing password. Each time you visit the site, this random value changes, and the cookie stored on your computer is updated. In order for the automatic login to work, both numbers have to match and only Tavern Trove knows what the values are supposed to be. As long as you've visited Tavern Trove within the last 60 days, (the expiration time of the cookie) you'll never have to log in.
